Skyland

One day I was sitting at my 'puter and I thought to myself, "I wonder what it would look like if I created a world where the ocean and the sky were reversed." That is how the first image came about. It is another fairly simple scene with two terrains set in an infinity plain and a sphere. Then, another day, I was looking at the picture and thought that it was pretty boring. So, I decided to add two more spheres, one of pure chrome and the other of a strange preset texture in Bryce. As you can see, I also changed the textures on the terrains. Then I started playing with the ocean texture on the sky, experimenting with different mapping styles, and this came out. I liked it a lot. So, then I repositioned the sphere in the center to where it is now and noticed in the final rendering that there was a really bright reflection from the global light source. I popped it into Photoshop and viola: a lens flare. I think it looks pretty cool.
